Auf dieser Seite soll es eine weite Spanne der Kulturbetrachtung, des Austauschs, der Entdeckung, der Diskussion geben. Afrika, der Kontinent mit 54 Staaten kann logischer weise nicht als Ganzes betrachtet werden. Die Geschichte des Kontinents ist lang und reich und beginnt weit vor der Kolonialisierung. Der tiefe Einschnitt in der Geschichte ist die Inbesitznahme und Ausbeutung, die willkürliche Grenzziehung der heutigen Staaten, der Raub von Menschen und Kulturgütern. Die Folgen sind bis heute spürbar, viele Narben nicht verheilt. Es gibt vielfältige Beziehungen zwischen den westlichen und auch östlichen Industriestaaten und Afrika. Die Gleichberechtigung dieser Beziehungen ist nicht immer da, weder wirtschaftlich noch kulturell. Die Berichterstattung über Afrika beschränkt sich nur allzu oft auf Katastrophen, Kriege und Elend. Die andere Seite Afrikas, die fortschreitende Entwicklung, die Vielfalt der Kultur auf allen Ebenen, bleibt medial oft auf der Strecke. Diese Seite will einen kleinen Teil dazu beitragen, diese Vielfalt Afrikas, möglichst jenseits der Klischees, abzubilden und in einen Austausch zu treten: dass man doch auch mal in die Klischeefalle tappt, ist nicht ausgeschlossen. Es soll immer fair, menschlich und respektvoll zugehen. Die Texte sind teils aus Deutschland teils aus Afrika, beziehungsweise von afrikanischen Autor*innen. Cultureafrica.net ist Kooperationspartner der Heroe Book Fair in Mombasa.

On this page there will be a wide range of cultural observation, exchange, discovery and discussion. Africa, the continent with 54 states cannot logically be considered as a whole. The history of the continent is long and rich and begins way before colonization. The deepest cut in history is the taking and exploitation, the arbitrary drawing of borders between the present states, the theft of people and cultural assets. The consequences are still felt today, many scars have not healed. There are manifold relations between the western and also eastern industrialized countries and Africa. The equality of these relations is not always there, neither economically nor culturally. All too often, reporting on Africa is limited to disasters, wars and misery. The other side of Africa, the progressive development, the diversity of culture on all levels, often falls by the wayside in the media. This page wants to make a small contribution to depicting this diversity of Africa, if possible beyond the clichés, and to enter into an exchange: because it is not excluded that one does fall into the cliché trap. It should always be fair, human and respectful. The texts are partly from Germany and partly from Africa, respectively from African authors.
